Designed to fit snugly around the arms, with a flat panel across the chest, it works similarly to a bench shirt by storing elastic energy and helping drive the bar off the chest during heavy lifts.

Its tight-fitting sleeves also provide compression and support around the shoulders and deltoids, helping lifters feel more stable under heavy loads.

The RAM is particularly useful for overload training, allowing experienced bench pressers to work with additional weight while benefiting from extra support. It can also help lifters familiarise themselves with the feel of supportive bench press equipment before progressing to a traditional bench shirt.

How is a RAM different from a bench shirt?

While both use elastic resistance to assist the bench press, the main difference is practicality. A traditional bench shirt is designed to fit extremely tightly and can be difficult to put on and take off, often requiring assistance from another person. The RAM is much easier to slip on and off independently between sets, making it more convenient for regular training sessions.

This makes the RAM a practical choice for lifters who want to incorporate assisted bench pressing and overload work into their training without the commitment and inconvenience of a dedicated bench shirt.

As with any supportive lifting aid, choosing the right size is important to achieve the intended fit and level of assistance.

Chest measurement

Suggested Size

32–36"

Small

38–42"

Medium

44–48"

Large

50–54"

XL

56–60"

2XL
